dragon wallhanging

I finally finished the dragon wallhanging! (after almost two years!)
This is the finished wallhanging done in fabric.
I used a sewing machine to put the colors in the right places, then handsewed the 1/4" black bias tape to make the stained glass effect.

This is the paper proto-type I made as a full sized mock-up to test the idea. I scanned the actuall fabrics I was considered and added the textrues in the correct places.
The paper sheets are taped together on the backside.
This is the original black and white line diagram I started with.
I printed this diagram out full size, then traced it on a 'yucky' fabric. I sewed on the traced lines on the yucky fabric, with the good fabric face down on the underside, then cut the extra fabric away from each peice, kinda like doing a crazy quilt. I covered the 'fuzzy' seams with the black bias tape. The back is a mess of the seams that I used to sew the black binding on, so the quilt is not 'quilt show' able. but, I am happy with it, and that is the important part.

sis's mit and hat done.

I finially got all the parts together to mail off my Sis's hat and mittens. (she lives in COLD Minnisota)
Here are some pictures.
The hat has earflaps and is a ribbed pattern. It is intended to fit under a riding helmet.

The mittens are felted and are very large. They are intended to fit over the streachy gloves. There is a ribbed inner cuff to keep out fluffy snow. The black ring is to tie on a though-the-jacket-sleaves cord or to hang the mittens to dry.
This is my first FININSHED knitting project. I used 100% wool to knit with. I learned a lot about knitting, especially that I enjoy it.

Beginings

Blogging... something I have folowed with much intrest when others do it. Now it is time for me to start my own. This is a place for me to share my intrestes with my friends and family.
The projects I am working on: weaving, spinning, knitting, felting, woodworking, gardening, birdwatching, and living.
I plan to share both the sucesses and failures, and hope to make others smile, or at least think... huh!
